Sir John A. Macdonald ( a found poem)
People called him a “frightful old rascal”
“The founder of this country”
He is the only prime minister
To throw up in the House of Commons
Resign for dishonorable behavior
And to take up arms against invading the Americans
He built a country
He built a railroad
But all his life
He could not find a doctor
To save the life
of his invalid wife
Sir John Thompson
Was asked his opinion of sir John A. Macdonald
He replied
“There is not one of us who has not lost his heart to him”
A time when our provinces
Argued
Should they join the United States of America
Or remain British colonies
Can you imagine a time
When the provinces fought so much
People didn’t believe
They could never join together
But Sir John believed
And he worked his whole life
To make his dream
Of a strong, free, and just country named Canada
To come true
"The ugliest man in Canada"
Tall and handsom with curly black hair and striking blue eyes
Alcoholism
A charismatic personality
